NSW Ambulance’s emergency response fleet is now equipped with four new state-of-the-art snowmobiles, purpose-built to respond swiftly to emergencies on the slopes and in remote backcountry terrain.
Utilising Corvanta’s remote response and marine tracking solution, these vehicles ensure that paramedics on the slopes stay connected, informed, and safe – no matter the conditions.
Operating out of Perisher and Jindabyne Ambulance Stations, the Alpine Operations team faces unique challenges: rugged terrain, unpredictable weather, and limited connectivity. The addition of Corvanta’s portable AVL and duress solution to the snowmobile fleet addresses these challenges head-on.
The solution delivers real-time vehicle telemetry, Automated Vehicle Location (AVL), and CAD-integrated dispatch and messaging, ensuring paramedics can navigate, communicate, and respond with precision, even in mobile blackspots. A satellite connection ensures continuous communication in alpine and other remote areas, where reliable connectivity is critical for transmitting duress signals, accessing live incident updates, and maintaining contact with control centres in rugged, snowy conditions.
NSW Ambulance paramedics have welcomed the new snowmobiles and their advanced capabilities. Paramedic Amy Long, working her first season at Perisher, shared:
“The new snowmobiles are amazing as they enable us to get to patients in the snow fields quickly, and they will also be great when rescuing people in remote areas in the snow” .
NSW Minister for Health, Ryan Park, echoed this sentiment:
“These new snowmobiles are a fantastic addition to the fleet and ensure that our Perisher paramedics have the very best equipment at their disposal so they can respond no matter the snow conditions, and no matter the medical emergency”.
